When it comes to mountain bike racing, there are few families who can match the successes of the Absalon brothers. Julien is an XC living legend with Olympic, UCI World Champs and UCI World Cup overall titles whilst his brother Rémy has forged his own path in enduro cutting his teeth in the very early days of the sport amidst the chaos of mass start races. A statistic which stands up to just about any on two-wheels is that Rémy has won 12 out of the 20 Megavalanche races that he has entered.
He has also amassed no fewer than four French national series titles which, given the depth of talent that that particular country produces, is no small feat. Rémy believes that growing up riding in the Les Vosges area of eastern France (or ‘Loam Land’ as it’s locals love to refer to it) was fundamental in building his speed as well as sustaining his love for enduro.
At the age of 36, the Remiremont-born racer clocked a top 20 finish at the debut EWS-E round at Specialized EWS Zermatt but now spends an increasing amount of time managing the SR-Suntour Scott team and mentoring the lightning fast young guns Hugo Pigeon and Elliot Trabac.
