The Specialized EWS-E Zermatt was one for the history books. Not only was this the first ever EWS-E, but it was also the signifier that e-bike racing had come of age.
World Champions and Olympians from across the mountain biking spectrum took to the start line beneath the Matterhorn to battle it out in this new format of racing. From the second they left the start this race would push them; tight, technical liasions, long, steep descents and an unbelievably savage climbing stage combined to make for an epic day of racing. Both equipment and rider were pushed to the max and just getting through the day was an achievement in itself, but amongst all the drama there were two riders who shone brighter than all the rest.
