A bike must be strong enough to stand up to some of the most extreme trails on the planet yet light enough to be pedalled up climbs all day. Suspension performance, wheel strength, rolling resistance, gearing, riding position, geometry... there are thousands of incremental details that go into making an EWS-ready bike. And that's all before you pile on the riddle that can be rider preferences.
