July's Racing Round Up

02 August 2019

Illapel, Chile - Event Organiser Pedro Barroso said: “Illapel was a new spot for the riders, including an urban stage and the experience was excellent. A huge surprise was the winner. A new place and a new winner. Claudio Salazar is a rider that comes from the DH and showed consistency and speed on new tracks.

For Montenbaik enduro to have this relationship with the EWS for the last six years is an honor and privilege. With this partnership we can continue growing and making this part of the world a great place to ride and the riders include Chile on their bucket list!!” Results are here

Blue Mountain, Canada - Event Organiser Ted Morton said: “Canada is a large country. As the only event organizer making the trip between the East and West I'm always excited to bring more value to the riders. This event was actually a massive up-turn for the riding scene in Ontario. Not only is this the only EWS Qualifier in Eastern Canada it was also part of the first-ever Sea Otter Canada festival. The Canadian Enduro Series is Canada's largest mountain bike race series, partnering with the EWS for Qualifiers and Continental is really important for our riders as it gives them a stepping stone to more competitive events and also gives them access to competing at the coveted EWS in Whistler.” Results are here

Panorama, Canada - Event Organiser Ted Morton said: “This past weekend we hosted the Norco Canadian Enduro Championship where we crowned the first-ever Cycling Canada Sanctioned Enduro Champions. I founded the Canadian Enduro Series in 2016 and in just three short years we've grown into the premier enduro series in North America, our races are the ultimate test for riders. A lot of this growth is due to the amazing collaboration and leadership from the EWS organization - we were the first to host an EWS Qualifier and Continental in Canada and now having our Canadian Enduro Championship a sanctioned race by Cycling Canada and an EWS Qualifier means that we're now providing our riders with an ability to grow their riding.  Our enduro series provides so many opportunities to explore new areas, create friendships and to ride the best trails in the world!” Results are here

Sirkka, Finland - Event Organiser Sauli Hjerppe said: "Fifth time around the Levi Midnight Enduro was a huge success with a record number of riders attacking the rocky terrain way up North above the Arctic Circle. Riding the first stages of the race late Friday night under the midnight sun makes for a unique experience. Add to that the biggest terrain in Finland for an enduro racer and you have a special event going. Finnish riders feel that this is THE event in Finland, and riders from Norway and Russia also gave their high praises to the event.

"Being part of the EWS family is a big deal for the race and for the Levi ski resort. EWS Qualifier status gives us a chance to be part of the global enduro family, and shows racers and spectators alike that this event is something special among other enduro races in the country. EWSQ status also attracts riders from neighboring countries which gives the event a real international flavor. The dust has hardly settled at Levi, but next years event is already being planned with improvements to make it even better." Results are here

Winter Park Resort, USA - Chuck Hodge of USA Cycling said: "USA Cycling is excited to include our National Championships as part of the EWS family of events, and continuing to promote Enduro through upcoming EWS events in the US." Results are here

Abetone (PT), Italy - Event Organiser Enrico Guala said: “"From 100% dry and dusty to 14 hours of continuous rain - the conditions were really challenging for everyone involved in the last round of the Superenduro. Abetone has revealed just part of its potential, definitely needing another occasion to be discovered at its fullest." Results are here

We also received this comment from China Peak, CA, USA Qualifier Event Organiser Steven Gemelos who hosted this Qualifier last month: “The California Enduro Series has been working with Chris Ball and the EWS team since 2016 with EWS Qualifiers, then EWS Continental Series, and coming this year the EWS Northstar event.  It's been a great relationship - working with Chris and the EWS team has helped us elevate what we're doing with the CES -- growing the sport of Enduro MTB in California and providing a path for our racers to grow and develop to the national and international levels of competition.  We look forward to hosting an EWS at Northstar this year - and we look forward to continuing to work with EWS going forward.”
